Volunteer with New Start Highland
New Start Highland is a Highland-wide charity that supports individuals and families with what they need to build safe, happy lives. We do this by giving people furniture for their homes, the skills to keep a tenancy and training to get a job.
This is where you could come in.
We are looking for volunteers who can give time, share skills and mentor others to build safe, secure lives. In return, our volunteers learn new skills and build experiences that can help with future career prospects and potentially to even provide support to the wider community.
Become a driver or van crew member
Our drivers and crews are key to our operation. From delivering starter packs to families, diverting waste from landfill, or collecting household goods to our shops for sales - the work you do as a driver is vital both to the organisation and the families that we support. Even an hour of your day doing a daily delivery to Raigmore makes a huge difference to us!
Join our retail team
Our retail stores make the money that we need to deliver our vital services. We pride ourselves on our excellent, friendly customer service and commitment to value for money. Do you have an eye for design? Do you love meeting new people? Would you confidently support a trainee on work placement? Then we’d love to hear from you. Join Our Administration Team
Help with the smooth running of New Start Highland by joining our administration team. If you have meticulous attention to detail and feel confident with organising data, you would be an ideal person for our administration team. Our administrators help us keep our list of achievements up to date so that we can measure our ongoing impact and assist with the smooth running of our courses and workshops.
Join Our Warehouse Team
The New Start Highland lorries collect a huge range of household items that are generously donated by the local community. We have a busy warehouse with lots of roles from unloading vans to cleaning, sorting, repairing and restoring everything that comes in. This means that you can expect to do anything from assembling a bed, to washing china, or folding linen. No two days are the same! The work that you do helps us to create our starter packs of kitchen items, bedding, or cleaning materials to give people a great start in their new homes.
Join Our Upcycling and Repair Community
New Start Highland has a warehouse of items waiting to inspire you! When you become part of our upcycling community, you learn new skills, share the skills you have, hone your techniques and so much more all while cutting your carbon footprint and helping us to generate the funds that we need to support the most vulnerable in our community.
