As a local charity, we help individuals and families build safe, happy homes by providing essential household items, supporting people to sustain their tenancies and helping them develop the skills and confidence to find meaningful work.
Our volunteers play such an important part in making this happen. Whether you enjoy working with people, making coffee in a cafe, sorting and organising, driving or using your creative skills, there are so many ways to get involved.
You don’t need to have lots of experience to volunteer with us. Just bring your enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a desire to help others. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills and be part of a friendly team, all while making a positive difference in your local community.
Become a driver or van crew member
Help us deliver more than just furniture. Our drivers and van crew help keep New Start Highland moving. From delivering essential household items to people setting up a new home to collecting donated goods for our shops, every journey makes a difference. You’ll help us collect items people need, support our services and give donated furniture and household goods a new lease of life. Whether you can spare a few hours to help with deliveries or would enjoy being out and about as part of a team, your time can make a real difference.
Join our retail team
Help turn second-hand finds into new opportunities. Our shops do more than sell affordable furniture and household items. The proceeds they raise helps fund our services and support people across the Highlands. As a retail volunteer, you could welcome customers, help keep the shop looking its best, arrange displays or support people on work placements. If you enjoy meeting people, have an eye for design or simply love finding a new home for pre-loved items, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll be part of a welcoming team, gain valuable experience and help us raise funds to support our community.
