The Power of Partnerships
At New Start Highland, we believe meaningful change happens when people work together. For 25 years, we’ve proudly partnered with organisations across the Highlands and beyond who share our values and commitment to making a difference.
Sometimes collaboration helps us strengthen our own mission and expand networks of opportunity, ensuring more people can access the support they need. Other times, it's about recognising where another organisation needs support and stepping in to bridge the gap. We’re here to build a stronger, more connected community, together.
We don’t believe in doing it alone. Two (or more) is always better than one. Delivering excellence lies in collaboration and since our journey began in 2000, we’ve learned that our success would not have been possible without the support of the Highland business community.
So how do we work with our partners?
Event Support
We’ve proudly supported some of the Highlands' most iconic sporting events, including the Loch Ness Marathon, Etape, The Highland Cross and the Inverness Half Marathon. Whether providing large-scale fulfilment to ease pressure on organisers or offering hands-on help during events, our team embrace these opportunities to connect with the community and raise vital funds for our work.
Making Houses Homes
At the core of our mission is alleviating poverty and supporting those in crisis. Through longstanding partnerships with Highland Council and the Scottish Welfare Fund, we deliver essential housing support and provide furniture packs to help transform empty spaces into stable homes. To date, we’ve delivered over 30,000 of these packs, each one providing a step toward a brighter future.
Commercial Collaborations
As a social enterprise, our commercial services are integral to our success and financial sustainability. Last year, we partnered with Tailormade Moves, Innes & Mackay, and Harper Macleod, offering a new audience bespoke pricing on our removals, house clearance and storage services, bringing our social impact to new audiences.
If you believe we share a mutual goal and see real potential in collaborating, let’s start the conversation.
Our Village: A New Chapter
We’re getting closer to launching our Training & Reuse Village, a major step forward in expanding both our environmental impact and social mission. Building on the 11,000 tonnes we’ve already diverted from landfill and the 1,500 people we support each year, this new space will significantly increase our capacity for reuse, training and support.
We’re excited to expand our retail offering and welcome partners that share our values into our new space. The first to join us will be The Inverness Tool Library, who will take up residence in our reconfigured retail outlet. Together, we’ll expand access to resources and support sustainable living.
Also joining the Village will be The Yard Café and our Training Kitchen, where each year 40 employees and trainees will build hospitality skills and gain hands-on experience. In partnership with the Highland hospitality sector, we aim to create clear pathways into stable, fulfilling employment. If you’re a local restaurant, hotel, or café and want to offer someone a life-changing opportunity, we’d love to connect.
Growing for Good
Our New Start Highland Gardens, a peaceful retreat in the heart of Inverness, are already making a difference. Each week, they welcome members of Headway Inverness, supporting individuals living with brain injuries. But we believe these therapeutic spaces should be shared more widely. If your community group could benefit, we want to hear from you.
Let’s Build Something Together
Some of the most powerful work in the third sector has grown from bold, values-led partnerships, like IKEA and Shelter Scotland addressing the national housing crisis through the belief that ‘home is everything’, or Tesco and FareShare tackling poverty and food waste. We’re constantly inspired by organisations working together to reach further and do more.
Let’s collaborate.
