Quadruple Award Success for New Start Highland

The Award Gods have been looking down on New Start Highland this week as we have been presented with four separate awards in the space of four days, sweeping the boards locally, regionally and nationally. The charity and social enterprise was crowned:

  • Reuse Network Organisation of the Year by The Reuse Network
  • Outstanding Community Engagement and Highland Business of the Year at the Highland Business Awards delivered by Inverness Chamber of Commerce
  • BBC Scotland Make a Difference Award in the Green category for our horticulture heroes, Laura and Donald

James Dunbar, New Start Highland’s chief executive, said: “I am absolutely blown away by this avalanche of accolades. They all mean something special to us, but winning The Highland Business of the Year I must admit stands out as a real achievement. We’ve worked so hard over the past 25 years to create positive change for our communities and receiving this recognition is one of our greatest moments.

“New Start Highland wouldn’t be what it is without our team of staff and volunteers, so our awards are for them. For each and every person who has played a part in our journey. I am incredibly grateful.”

The journey of New Start Highland shows no sign of slowing down, as it gears up to open Scotland’s first Training and Reuse Village in the coming weeks. The £500k Village will be home to Inverness Tool Library, other pre-loved concessions within its retail outlets, a bike hut, a Café and a Training Kitchen.
