Relief Removals Operative with Driving

New Start Highland is a dynamic and leading social enterprise which creates opportunities for transformation in people’s lives. Over the past 23 years New Start Highland has delivered a wide range of social services to transform Highland lives. New Start Highland also operates a number of commercial services to generate income to finance its charitable activities, including a nationwide Removals service. This new post is within the Removals team, delivering an effective Removals and Storage service. You may be required to work away from home and to travel to Scottish Islands with the team.

Accountable To

The post-holder will work closely with and report to the Removals and Transport Manager across the range of activities covered by the post.

Working Relationships

The post-holder will be required to develop effective and positive working relationships with all New Start Highland departments, colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities

To assist in ensuring that in all aspects of work, New Start Highland’s values, policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner.
To maintain confidentiality.
To liaise with staff, volunteers, service users and the general public in a courteous manner that promotes a positive image and upholds the company reputation.
To maintain safe systems of work at all times ensuring quality of service and all relevant Health and Safety and driving regulations are consistently delivered.
To communicate clearly and effectively with other members of the team and the general public

Key Tasks & Duties

To drive company vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonnes safely and efficiently.
To complete commercial removals (including lifting and handling) of a wide range of household and commercial items, whilst delivering excellent customer experience.
To ensure careful handling and efficient packing of all goods and furnishings.
To assist in ensuring that all relevant records are accurately maintained and are available for inspection as required.
To assist with the general maintenance of the vehicles.

Salary & Benefits

There are 32 days annual leave per year FTE inclusive of public holidays rising to 35 days after five years’ service. There will be an opportunity to participate in a contributory pension scheme.

Current, clean driving licence with authorisation to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.
Current digital tachograph card.
Driver CPC qualified

FLT Qualification
Good awareness of Scottish geography

Previous experience of maintaining accurate records / documentation

This is a physically demanding role which necessitates the requirement to routinely lift and handle heavy items of furniture and equipment. In many domestic and commercial removals heavy items will require to be moved up and down flights of stairs. A good state of physical health is therefore essential.
