Smart Living @ Eastgate PDF Print E-mail

A Smart Living event, hosted by RoWAN (Ross-shire Waste Action Network) is taking place at Eastgate shopping Centre on 7th and 8th May.  The event in partnership with a number of ‘waste aware’ organisations including New Start Highland, New Start Bikes, Highland Council, Energy Saving Trust, Highland Real Nappy Project and Master Composter will be a platform to raise awareness of ‘green issues’ ranging from food waste to energy efficiency, furniture reuse to the use of real nappies.

New Start Highland will have a living room display to show people what they donate can be re-used and help give someone else a new start in life by making their house a home.  We will also be holding a charity auction - with guest star Tich McCooey - which will give anyone a chance to bid for items they would like to have in their home.

In addition we will be running a silent auction for the items on display in the living room over the 2 days.  The draw will be made at 4pm on Saturday.

New Start Bikes will be raising awareness of how to take care of your bike through a basic maintenance demonstration and as a result you will be able to give your bike a tune up in time for summer!

Over the two days there will be giveaways, student films, entertaining interactive displays, a charity auction and a couple of fashion shows.  In addition Highland householders will have access to an array of helpful information on how we can reduce our waste by making a few simple changes and choices which can not only help us save money but will also help the environment.
