Welcome to New Start Highland

New Start Highland is a charity established to provide practical help to homeless people who are moving into their own home. New Start Highland will assist them to tackle the difficulties that they face once housed.

Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness

New Start Highland aims to break the cycle of homelessness and to prevent people slipping back into homelessness. Many tenancies can fail at an early stage due to lack of support which many of us take for granted. New Start Highland aims to provide practical assistance which will ease pressure at a challenging time.

How We Can Help

Initially we assist by providing - starter packs of basic household items made up of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, cleaning materials and bedding. We also provide recycled second hand furniture, electrical and white goods, etc, for new tenants where needed. We rely on the goodwill of people in the Highlands to donate furniture and household goods. We welcome donations by individuals or businesses.

As we develop we are looking for more individuals who are willing to work with us as volunteers. See the volunteering section for more details.

Providing Support to Vulnerable New Tenants.

We now also provide a support service to assist during the initial challenging time of taking up a new tenancy. If you would like to take advantage of this please contact us direct or ask for a referral from Highland Council or any other partner agency.
